Recap:

  • 15/24 is my second worst in the four years i've done this. that said, i gave it the least amount of time. i'd like to think that if i gave it a little bit of research i could have gotten at least one of the short films, but i don't know that i would have done any better than 16 or 17.
  • let's be honest, no one saw foreign film coming and i think that most of the smart money wasn't on hurt locker or precious for the writing awards. direction, picture and the acting categories were easy.
  • transformers 2 being snubbed for a visual effects nomination was ridiculous if you ask me and though i haven't seen the foreign film that won, i'm guessing that white ribbon was better.
  • of the 35 films in the acting, direction, picture (foreign, animated, documentary), cinematography, editing, and writing categories i saw 22. good, not great. i only saw one each of the documentary and foreign films that were nominated. if you don't count those two categories then i saw 20/26.
